Ok. First, I’d like to apologize for being away. It has been a trying couple of years, but I’m hoping to start regular updates here going forward. Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes I’ve received.
So Many Things Have Changed!
… and still so much remains the same.
There was once a time when being a rebel and protesting things were the actions of the “independent thinkers.” It hasn’t been that long ago that “you can’t tell me how to think” was a phrase used by those that thought for themselves and came to the decision that society was making the wrong choices. Now the “independent thinkers” are out there telling us that if we don’t agree with them and think the way THEY think, well, we’re evil people that don’t deserve to have ideas of our own. Can people not see how contradictory that is? “You can’t tell me what to think” has become “I can tell you what to think and if you DON’T agree with what I tell you then you are an evil person and shouldn’t be allowed to speak in public.”
Shoot… I’d love to see a movie retelling of the Rip Van Winkle story! That dude would go insane!
“That’s the way everyone else does it” used to be the reasoning for the actions of big business… now it’s the reasoning for the actions of protestors. “If you don’t do it the way WE do it, you are a trouble maker” used to be the attitude of big business… again… now it’s the attitude of the protestors.
Let’s pause for a second while I point out that not all people that disagree with me feel or act this way. Unlike some, I don’t bunch everyone into one group and label that group as one. I love a good discussion, and even a good debate every now and then. Who knows… I may be wrong MYSELF on some things. It has happened. I just wish people would think things through on their own and try to figure out what THEY believe instead of just clinging to the beliefs of the current crowd.
Here’s an exercise. Think about the following statement and question. Actually think about it. Keep an open mind. Work it out logically. Then post your opinion back here in a civil manner. I promise that if I don’t agree with you I won’t bad-mouth you or call you names or even question your intelligence. That’s not how discussion and debate should work. Ok… so here is the statement…
To stop mass shootings, we need to ban assault weapons.
Just a simple statement. I’m not saying I believe it or not… just stating what MANY people are saying. Now… here is the question…
Why does it make more sense to ban a certain type of weapon from all people than to ban ALL weapons from a certain type of people?
Again… concentrate on the question regarding the statement. Think about it and answer the question as your beliefs guide you.
Talk to ya later!
